PROJECT: Thames boat project
DATE: 01/2020
SITE: Thames river/Kingston
The Thames project is a collaboration between Kingston university and artist Ben Judd.
In this project, Ben Judd works with local residents, community groups, students and scholars at all levels. From the design of the adaptive floating structure to the construction of the floating structure and the events that took place on the Thames. Ben Judd wants to "consider the importance of community in big cities... Promote meaningful communication between strangers...".
Our site is a boat, The interior is usually a stable physical space, fixed within the space. The Thames project proposes to design a nomadic interior space that is developed in relation to the surrounding environment and the mooring site. The space is supposed to be multi-functional, it should be a flexible space that can be used for performing, meeting, eating and workshop.
