PROJECT: "Life cycle of place" in Kingston
DATE: 102/2021
SITE: Kingston, undercroft
The current global pandemic has shifted attention from urban centers to suburban town centers. The challenges facing town centres can be redefined as opportunities for towns like Kingston to reinvent themselves. Traditional retailing has left a challenging legacy for towns trying to rebuild from the impact of the pandemic. Large areas of artificial lighting and mechanical ventilation.
Designers are now better able to support the development of interior landscapes; The public Spaces within the building are more open, with perforated enclosures, internal courtyards and other strategies to improve air circulation and create a sense of ambiguity between the indoor and outdoor experiences. In the event of another pandemic, these new outback landscapes may be better adapted, providing people with a better experience and less impact on their lives.
